Mixtures of bioethanol and petrol are divided into several brands E5 and E7, which do not require any changes to the design of a car engine, which can not be said about the brands E85, E95 and E96. The wider introduction of ethanol in the fuel industry makes it possible to reduce the country’s dependence on oil supplies, as well as to reduce the air pollution by harmful substances released into the atmosphere. In addition,  biofuels improve the fuel detonation resistance (octane number) and reduce the content of toxic aromatic hydrocarbons.

Production of mixed fuels

The general technological process of production of mixed fuels is based the emulsification of low-octane gasoline with ethanol. A result is an increase of the octane number of a resulting mixture. This parameter depends on the amount of ethanol introduced, which in practice is 8 – 20%.

Mixed fuel is obtained by following the four steps:

  1. preparation of initial components;
  2. dosage and dispersion of ethanol in gasoline stream;
  3. sampling and conducting analysis to determine the quality characteristics;
  4. certification of the finished products.
