While biodiesel is generally eco-friendly, it does have some environmental drawbacks. One key concern is the land use for growing biodiesel crops, which can lead to deforestation, habitat loss, and food vs. fuel debates. Additionally, some biodiesel blends can emit slightly higher levels of nitrogen oxides (NOx), a contributor to smog. However, using advanced technologies like the GlobeCore USB biodiesel plant can mitigate many production-related impacts by optimizing energy use, reducing waste, and allowing biodiesel to be made from waste oils instead of dedicated crops—lowering the environmental footprint.
