GlobeCore can supply an online moisture + temperature probe with a local display for integration into a mobile transformer oil purification plant. On GlobeCore CMM mobile purification plants, the optional moisture probe provides continuous transformer-oil moisture and temperature measurement, and the plant can be supplied with a display showing moisture in ppm. For your application, I’d recommend an online «moisture-in-oil» sensor that measures water activity (aw) + oil temperature and calculates moisture in ppm (this is the standard approach used in GlobeCore’s TOR moisture measurement concept).
enero 28, 2026 a las 3:29 am en respuesta a: How long does it take a power company to fix a transformer? #332369Amir KhanMiembroPole units may be swapped in hours; substation or GSU units require days to months depending on diagnostics, logistics, spares, and procurement.

enero 27, 2026 a las 8:17 pm en respuesta a: Why the no-load power factor of an induction motor / transformer is very low? #332313Amir KhanMiembroNo-load current is mostly magnetizing and reactive, delivering little real power. Core excitation dominates, making PF typically 0.05-0.2 lagging.
enero 26, 2026 a las 12:39 pm en respuesta a: Why is a power factor transformer test performed during diagnostics? #332041Amir KhanMiembroSame principle as above: evaluates insulation system condition to predict service life and prevent catastrophic failure.
enero 24, 2026 a las 5:08 am en respuesta a: What steps are involved in power transformer repair? #331597Amir KhanMiembroRepairs begin with diagnostics (DGA, IR, tan-delta, winding resistance, FRA), oil draining, tank opening, core-coil inspection, rewinding or insulation replacement, OLTC overhaul, gasket and bushing replacement, vacuum oil filling, dielectric tests, and leak/heat run verification.
enero 23, 2026 a las 11:13 pm en respuesta a: What is the difference between a power and a distribution transformer? #331551Amir KhanMiembroPower transformers operate at transmission voltages with high utilization and are optimized for efficiency at or near full load. Distribution transformers operate at lower voltages, experience variable loading profiles and are optimized for low no-load losses and voltage regulation for end users.
enero 23, 2026 a las 8:33 am en respuesta a: How is a Hyundai power transformer inspected for partial discharge and dielectric breakdown during routine diagnostics? #331421Amir KhanMiembroOffline DGA, PD, induced voltage, and dielectric oil tests evaluate insulation health; trending detects aging, moisture ingress, and localized defects.
enero 22, 2026 a las 9:27 pm en respuesta a: Where are big power transformers installed in utility transmission systems? #331337Amir KhanMiembroLarge GSUs and transmission autotransformers are installed in HV yards, substation compounds, and generation switchyards. They connect generating units to the transmission backbone and provide voltage transformation for long-distance power transfer.
enero 22, 2026 a las 7:04 pm en respuesta a: How is the rating of a power transformer determined in kVA? #331319Amir KhanMiembrokVA rating is established from winding current and voltage limits, verified by thermal testing and impedance characteristics. Manufacturers ensure the unit can sustain rated kVA at specified ambient temperature without exceeding insulation thermal class.
enero 21, 2026 a las 5:20 am en respuesta a: Where are industrial power transformers used in heavy facilities? #330794Amir KhanMiembroHeavy industries (steel, cement, petrochem, mining, pulp & paper, data centers, and rail) deploy MV/HV transformers for distribution, motor drives, and process electrification.
enero 20, 2026 a las 10:33 pm en respuesta a: Can the TOR-5 online monitoring system also display the oil breakdown voltage? #330698Amir KhanMiembroIn general, TOR-5 does not directly measure or display oil breakdown voltage, because BDV testing requires applying a controlled high voltage between electrodes in a test cell, which cannot be done safely or reliably online. TOR-5 focuses on parameters that correlate with dielectric strength, such as moisture, temperature, and hydrogen trends. These give an indirect indication of insulation condition, but periodic offline BDV testing with a dedicated tester is still necessary for an actual breakdown voltage value.
enero 18, 2026 a las 8:50 pm en respuesta a: What does a power current transformer measure in electrical systems? #330246Amir KhanMiembroA current transformer (CT) scales large line currents down to small, manageable values for metering and protection relays. It maintains a precise ratio and phase relationship within specified accuracy classes. CTs allow safe connection of instruments without exposing them to high primary currents. In protection applications, CT performance during faults is critical, as relays rely on accurate current reproduction to trip breakers correctly and isolate faults in the power system.
