Modern LFD units include several built-in safety layers to prevent overheating and abnormal operation. The most important are multiple independent temperature sensors installed on different windings and structural parts, with automatic power reduction or shutdown if any limit is exceeded. Current and voltage are continuously monitored to avoid overcurrent conditions. In addition, there are software interlocks, emergency stop circuits, and alarms for loss of vacuum or cooling. These protections ensure that heating remains uniform and that any abnormal trend is detected early before it can damage the insulation.
