Globecore’s LFD marine transformers drying machine has been designed with the intention of helping to remove moisture from transformers operating in marine environments, with the aim of extending their life by improving their insulating properties and reducing the risk of failure. L FD employs thermal vacuum drying technology, which has been demonstrated to be effective in removing moisture from transformer oil and windings. Marine transformers function in environments characterised by high humidity, salt vapours and temperature fluctuations, which can expedite the deterioration process of the insulation. It is hypothesised that regular drying will help to prevent corrosion, breakdown and current leakage, thus increasing equipment reliability. The LFD’s compact design and mobility mean that it could be a convenient solution for offshore vessels, oil and gas platforms and offshore energy facilities. The unit can be connected to transformers of various capacities, operates automatically and requires minimal maintenance.
