Can the TOR-5 online transformer monitoring system immediately determine whether a transformer is contaminated with PCBs?

    No, TOR-5 cannot immediately determine PCB contamination. PCBs are not detected by moisture, gas, or standard oil quality sensors used in online monitoring. Identification of PCBs requires specific chemical analysis of an oil sample using laboratory methods such as gas chromatography with electron capture detection. TOR-5 can indicate abnormal aging or contamination trends, but confirming the presence of PCBs is always an offline laboratory task, not an online diagnostic function.
