A control power transformer is a smaller transformer used to supply low voltage power to control circuits, relays, contactors and instrumentation in industrial systems. It typically steps down medium or low voltage (for example, 480 V) to 120 V, 24 V or similar levels, providing isolation and appropriate voltage for control devices. These transformers are designed to handle inrush from contactor coils and short term overloads, and are often rated as Class 2 or have specific VA ratings. They help separate control circuits from main power circuits for safety and reliability.
