BRPS Zeolite Regeneration Block

BRPS

Zeolite regeneration | 2300 LPM air blower throughput | 150-250 °C air temperature | Superheated steam

The BRPS plant is designed to clean sorbent (zeolite) from oil residues using overheated steam and to remove absorbed moisture by drying with hot air. It is used at power and industrial facilities where zeolite-filled adsorbers dry lubricating and electrical insulating oils, such as in transformer dry-out systems. To restore adsorption properties, zeolite must be heated to 250 °C; however, since it contains oil residues with a lower flash point, these are first removed by steam cleaning generated by a steam unit, with contaminants collected in a separate tank. After oil removal, the zeolite is dried with hot air at up to 250 °C and then vacuumized to extract remaining steam and gases. Once cooled, the zeolite is ready for reuse in oil drying processes.

BRPS plant is designed to clean the sorbent (zeolite) from oil residues using overheated steam and to remove previously absorbed moisture by drying with hot air.

The block is used in power-producing, industrial, and other divisions that apply zeolite-filled adsorbers to dry lubricating and electrical insulating oils, such as CMM-260C transformer dry-out system.

Principle of operation

In order to reclaim the absorbing properties of zeolite, it must be warmed up to 250 °C. But zeolite contains oil residues the flash point of which is usually much lower, e.g. 130 °C for transformer oil.

Therefore, prior to heating, the plant removes oil residues by cleaning the zeolite layer with overheated steam created by a steam generator. The cleaning products are collected in an auxiliary tank.

After removing the oil residues, zeolite is dried with hot air supplied by a blower to the heater and having the temperature of 250 °C at the heater outlet.

At the final stage, zeolite-filled equipment is vacuumized due to the operation of a vacuum pump which pumps out the remaining steam and steam-gas mixtures.

After zeolite cools down, it is ready to be reused for drying industrial oils.

  • compact size;
  • mobility due to wheel-mounted design;
  • the heater power is sufficient to heat the air up to 400 °C, thus, BRPS can be used to solve other problems requiring a higher heating temperature;
  • zeolite saving due to reusing it to dry the oils.
