GlobeCore FAQ
I am interested in a Residual Gas Pressure (RGP) oil analyzer for oil-filled cables. What type of equipment is used for this test and what should be considered when selecting one?

For oil-filled cables, the RGP test is typically performed using a specialized RGP measurement cell, which determines the amount of dissolved gases in the oil by measuring residual gas pressure after extraction. These devices can measure pressure in a defined range (for example up to ~150 torr) and are used as an indicator of oil condition and cable integrity.
In practice, the RGP setup usually includes not just the measuring cell, but also a vacuum system and auxiliary equipment (vacuum pump, hoses, valves), since the test is based on extracting gases from the oil sample under controlled conditions . This makes it more of a laboratory or diagnostic setup rather than a standalone portable tester.
If you are planning not only to analyze but also to improve oil condition, RGP testing is often combined with oil treatment. In such cases, GlobeCore solutions like TOR-series diagnostic equipment (for testing) together with CMM-type vacuum units (for degassing and dehydration) are typically used in parallel – allowing both accurate diagnostics and immediate corrective action on-site.
