CMM-1.0LT Transformer Oil Purification Unit

The CMM-1.0LT unit is designed for thermo-vacuum drying and filtration of industrial oils used in lubrication, sealing, and hydraulic control systems of gas turbines, gas compression units, gas piston compressors, as well as transformers. In addition to oil purification, the unit can be used for heating and drying oil-filled electrical equipment. Under vacuum, the oil passes through a coarse filter with a filtration rating of 200 μm, then enters a vacuum tank with a built-in heater. The heated oil is distributed over special fillers, where moisture and gases are efficiently removed under vacuum. The oil is then pumped from the bottom of the tank through two fine filters with selectable ratings of 5, 3, 1, or 0.3 μm and delivered to the outlet. The placement of the heater inside the vacuum chamber and the optimized layout ensure compact unit dimensions and reduced heat loss.

СММ-1.0LT unit is designed for thermal vacuum drying and filtration of industrial oils used in lubrication, sealing, hydraulic control systems of gas turbine and gas pumping units, gas engine compressors, and in transformers. In addition to oil purification, CMM-1.0LT may be used for heating and drying the oil-filled electrical devices.

Principle of operation

The oil driven by vacuum passes through a coarse filter with the filtration fineness of 200 microns after which it gets inside a vacuum tank where a heater is located. Rising from bottom to top, the oil heats up and gets into the other part of the chamber through a special channeled lid coming directly to special fillers. Next, the oil flows down the fillers, while the moisture vapor and gases are removed from the oil by vacuum. Then, the oil is pumped out from the tank bottom through two fine filters to the unit outlet. The filtration fineness of the filters can be selected at 5, 3, 1, or 0.3 microns.

Design features

The heater is located inside the vacuum tank which made it possible to reduce the unit dimensions and to diminish the heat losses while heating the oil.

The oil is sucked into the vacuum chamber due to the underpressure generated by a vacuum system. A new layout has been applied to the rest of the unit components. All of these innovations have yielded good results in terms of small equipment dimensions.

The 10 ppm mode is the standard operating mode of the equipment, which involves drying oil using thermal vacuum technology.

The 5 ppm mode ensures a very low level of residual moisture in the oil by reducing machine productivity. This means that the equipment effectively removes even the smallest traces of water, which significantly extends the service life of the equipment.

The 5 ppm+ mode is an improved version that ensures even lower residual oil moisture levels by using sorbent cartridges and reducing machine productivity. This is ideal for critical applications especially for heavily loaded transformers with high demands.
